The pub dog makes a guest appearance at 2.08 :) !

Real

A brand new gospel /blues song called "Real" getting its first live performance.

The first line is "There's a dog in a manger , like a wound that will not heal " and there was actually a dog running round the pub when I played it...hence I sped up a little towards the end, as I was keeping an eye on the dog !!
Many thanks to Richie J. Vaillant for the video.

"Different Drum" - new album released

Richard Wilson: Different Drum

"Different Drum" - the brand new album is now available.

The record moves in a swinging jazz / blues/ folk direction.

The album draws on the influences of Les Paul , Cab Calloway ,Mose Allison and Be Bop rhythms of the 50's.

However there is also a strong folk element present - as this music is truly original and hard to pigeon hole into one genre.

The lyrical content is a continuum from earlier albums and explores the spectrum of human emotion.

Augmented by drums and bass on several tracks, this album is played with energy and passion and was cut live in the studio, in an "old school " manner.

Pre-production for new music

I am in the process of pre-production for 15 new songs.

I have switched to playing my Epiphone Sheraton and Gibson Les Paul for this project and have been writing/rehearsing for the past 5 months.

The vibe is a "folk-jazz trio" with bass and drums.

Hard to describe the genre - but very "Richard Wilson" with a soupcon of Django , Pentangle and Curtis Mayfield thrown in too!

Watch this space for new developments.

The album follows life and our experiences.

Go delve in and enjoy the journey....

New live shows and CD!

I have written a set of brand new acoustic songs and have started a series of live shows and TV and radio appearances.
I plan to go into the studio in the next few months and record the new songs direct to analog 2” tape.
The new CD is scheduled for Fall 2008 release. I am also playing regular shows at Java Rush in Lake Havasu City, Arizona– and then some dates in Los Angeles will follow. In January I played on the Jolene Jensen Show on Havasu 45 TV , with another appearance to follow later this year. Check back for more news and photos!
